My Generation Grew Up With This.

Ask a question what Soviet boys were playing (apart from Great Patriotic War) in 1970? They were playing, during the breaks from repulsing Blitzkrieg, in Injuns and Cowboys. And then there was MacKenna's Gold which exploded Soviet box office. Of course everyone remembers Jose Feliciano's Old Turkey Buzzard magnificent piece.

Russians responded in kind with a version by Valery Obodzinsky which still lives today. Yes, I turn it on every time I cross from California to Arizona. Today, this America seems as removed from reality as.... find your own metaphors.

P.S. Omar Sharif, for him being a Egyptian, managed to play both Wild West villains  and even a Russian, you know, Doctor Zhivago.
